LogMeIn Launches Ignition for the iPad

LogMeIn has launched its Ignition solution for the iPad, offering users complete access to their office and home computers, including Windows-based PCs and Macs. In Apple’s US App Store, LogMeIn Ignition for iPad has been one of the top 10 grossing paid apps since the store opened in early April. It is also currently the top rated remote access app. The app was already available for the iPhone and iPod touch.

“With this latest version of LogMeIn Ignition, customers can use their iAnything – Pad, Phone, Pod – to instantly and securely access their digital lives, from wherever they are in the world,” says Andrew Burton, Vice President, access and management, at LogMeIn. “Whether its accessing an important file back in the office while you are camping in the woods, or showing off the latest picture of the kids you have at home, the iPad with LogMeIn Ignition is the perfect combination for keeping you productive at work and at play.”

Once the app has been purchased, users can use it across their iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. The app adapts dynamically to the device it’s being used on. On the iPad, users get an improved display, rendering and navigation, including new keyboard handling to take full advantage of the larger, high-resolution display and new iPad capabilities.

The app’s creators say it’s easy to setup and use, even for a non-technical user. There are no firewall settings to be updated, no router configurations to be made, no ports to be opened or re-routed, and no need for static IP addresses. The app is available as a free update to the current version of Ignition for iPhone/iPod touch users. New customers can download it from the iTunes App Store for a one-time charge of £17.99.
