UK retailers Londis, Beales and Heron Foods are trialling Big Deals Local (bigDL), an offers platform for high street retailers combining online promotions, mobile coupons and proximity targeting.

bigDL uses Bluetooth beacon technology to push offer notifications to shoppers via the iOS and Android app, and also features a patented mPOS solution for redeeming digital coupons, which can be tracked down to the individual customer level.

The trials are part of a beta, ahead of bigDLs official launch on 1 October, which will be promoted with a multi-million pound marketing campaign.

“Weve created a platform that provides consumers with genuine value and retailers with an end-to-end system for managing, planning and delivering the best deals and value-add communication for customers,” said bigDL founder and CEO Matt Norbury. “The retailers’ ability to react is transformed with our approach to real-time communication and we’re only at beginning in terms of what can be done.”

The company is backed by £17m investment from entrepreneur Bryan Duffy, who has taken the role of chairman.
