MACH Revs Up Data Roaming Engine

Five network operators have signed up to use MACHs Data Roaming Engine solution over the last quarter. The operators, ranging across the Middle East and Africa, South America and Asia Pacific regions, will be able to use the solution to offer subscribers a bespoke set of data roaming packages and control over costs and flexibility of service.

“The tremendous momentum MACH has achieved with its Data Roaming Engine is a validation of its vision for a new and more profitable approach to delivering data roaming services to consumers,” says MACH CTO Lokdeep Singh. “The unique managed service solution helps mobile network operators unlock the tremendous potential of data roaming, which has failed for too long to generate the kind of revenues it undoubtedly should. By simply giving subscribers greater insight into roaming costs and being able to target them with more tailored packages, MACH’s customers are at the forefront of a new approach to mobile data monetisation.”

Research carried out by MACH with YouGov shows that 58 per cent of roamers do not use 3G at all on their smartphones and Tablets when abroad. According to the study, removing subscribers fear of bill shock could open up an additional $900m global market.
