Newspaper publisher Mail Online has seen mobile traffic to its website rise from 3 per cent to 11 per cent of the total over the past 12 months. The number of mobile users per month has increased from 1.1m to 6.8m over the same period.
The figures were revealed to Mobile Marketing by Mail Online managing director James Bromley, who told us that the company prefers to take a “fast follower” approach; it has not yet launched a mobile website, and its iPhone app launched only six months ago. But a mobile site, plus Android and iPad versions of the app, are in the pipeline, with the iPad app due first.
Bromley also revealed that for the month of March, Mail Online had 52,000 daily users of its app in the UK, generating 73m page views over the month.
