Manchester City Council’s Launches Mobile-first Responsive Site

Manchester City Council has become one of the first to completely re-design its website using a mobile-first strategy.

The responsive design site created by Jadu groups familiar issues into a number of categories identified by rather cool looking icons for easy mobile search.

Council tax, bins, work and libraries are highlighted at the top in a different colour as these are the most widely searched for services by people visiting the website. Before sending the user away to a lengthier explainer on each topic on a new page, the site offers a drop down with three of the most popular options. If you click library, for example, the site asks if you want to join, search for some resources or research your family history.

Jadu  believes this website will be a new benchmark for government web design and it has already received lots of positive feedback on Twitter.
