Marriott Brings Mobile Check-in to US Hotels

Marriott is introducing mobile check-in functionality at 325 of its hotels in the US and Canada.

Using the iOS and Android app, members of the Marriott Rewards loyalty scheme will be able to check in the day before arrival and receive a notification when their room is ready. Once at the hotel, users can then walk up to the expedited mobile check-in desk where their pre-programmed key card will be waiting for them.

“As Marriott developed the app and tested mobile check-in, we engaged customers, asking for their feedback to perfect the experience and learn what mattered most to them,” said Paul Cahill, senior vice president of brand management for Marriott Hotels. “Our frequent guests told us they wanted mobile check-in first, using their smartphones, to be widely available. That is what we are delivering as Marriott Hotels continues its journey of envisioning the future of travel for the next generation.”

The functionality is initially available at 31 Marriott-branded hotels, and will expand to the rest later this summer. The hotel also has plans to roll the functionality out internationally, and is testing extra functionality for its app, including check-out and guest service requests, in its mobile incubator hotels.
