Matthew Clark Signs Up for Sendster Service

Sendster, a UK mobile marketing company that focuses solely on local businesses, has signed an exclusive partnership agreement with leading UK drinks supplier Matthew Clark, to bring its low-cost SMS text-message marketing service to thousands of pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants across the UK.
Sendster allows local businesses to quickly notify customers of last-minute offers and other deals and incentives via SMS. This helps build revenue, increase customer loyalty and saves money over traditional marketing methods; the cost to reach each customer contacted is just 8p. Sendster also provides in-store posters and business cards to help businesses raise awareness of the service and encourage sign up.
The challenges faced by the many companies supplied by Matthew Clark mirror the problems that Sendster was designed to address, namely low periods of demand throughout the year (especially weekdays); lack of resources to focus effectively on the collection of customer details; and a lack of resources to focus on coherent marketing activities.
Perhaps more than any other sector, the hospitality market is most reliant on customer interaction, loyalty and recommendation, says Sendster CEO, Carlo Platia. Pubs rely on regular custom, restaurants on returning diners. These establishments need a method of reaching out to these customers to ensure regular income and patronage. This creates a reliance on customer information and communication that Sendster speaks to, above other more traditional forms of marketing.
Under the terms of the exclusive agreement, which means that Sendster will not partner with other on-trade drinks suppliers, representatives from Matthew Clark will be trained to help their customers access and use the Sendster service.

Sendster is looking to build a strong affiliate network for the service across a variety of vertical industries, with the Matthew Clark deal being the first such announcement. Platia believes any business with a large base of local companies as customers – which is the model with Matthew Clark – is a potential partner.
