McDonalds App Clocks Up 1m Downloads

McDonald’s UK has revealed that its iPhone/Android app has clocked up more than 1m downloads in less than 12 months.

The app, developed in partnership with Grapple and Razorfish, has been opened more than 10m times, with more than one in 10 customers returning to the app each month. Coinciding with peak serving times, the app is used predominantly between the hours of 12-2pm and 5-7pm daily. McDonalds.co.uk has also seen continued increase in mobile traffic, with its mobile-optimised site accessed more than 10m times in the last 12 months.

The McDonald’s mobile propositions are designed to create a clear and personalised experience, providing customers with the ability to find their nearest restaurants, view the full menu including allergens and nutrition information, and discover the latest offers and promotions.

“We’re thrilled to have reached this landmark number of downloads,” says Mel Savage, head of young adult marketing at McDonald’s UK. “Mobile is proving to be a powerful channel to not only increase footfall to restaurants, but also provide easy access to additional information such as promotions, menus and nutrition information when customers are actually in our restaurants.”
