McDonalds AR App is on a McMission

McDonalds has launched an AR app in Germany to promote its corporate responsibility program.

Developed by Metaio in collaboration with German agencies LessingvonKlenze and Heye, the McMission app features four mini-games, triggered by scanning in-store materials.

Each game is themed, albeit loosely, after one of McDonalds sustainability initiatives – so recycling is explored through a flick-to-shoot game challenging the user to land paper in a bin, while wind power is represented by a virtual windmill which can be spun by blowing into the phones microphone. Once theyve played through the games, and answered the attending quiz questions, the user is entered into a prize draw.
