McDonalds Puts ScanPay in its Apps

McDonalds signFast food retailer McDonalds has integrated ScanPay’s mobile payment tech into its apps. It’s unclear whether this is a global deal, or one that applies only to France, but from the imagery sent across, France-only looks most likely.

ScanPay enables a mobile user to pay for goods and services on thier mobile by scanning their credit card using the phone’s camera, and then entering the 3-digit verification code. McDonald’s launched its mobile ordering service a few weeks ago.

“Our goal is to continuously seek new features that can improve customer experience,” said Jean-Noël Pénichon, digital director at McDonalds. “With ScanPay, we found a partner whose technology meets this ambition.”

ScanPay says its solution can greatly increase the conversion rate on mobile and tablets, which is usually much lower than on desktop. It says the tech is currently used by “dozens of recognized brands” in sectors including retail, hospitality, catering and fashion.
