Mediative Whitepaper Tracks Eye Patterns

The Google Places on the iPhone: How to Win More Mobile Clicks whitepaper from Mediative, based on research using eye tracking technology to investigate where users look on their mobiles screen while using Google Places, follows its November 2011 study into the same topic, on PCs.

The whitepaper publishes the findings of that research – that users typically look first at the upper left of the screen, then scan to the right, before looking down the screen keeping to the left hand side.

Results which were ranked higher on the page, with fewer social signals, like reviews, were skipped over in favour of lower results with better reviews.
