Meffies Winners Announced

Warner Music, Bango and 3 UK were among the winners at this years Meffy Awards, run by the Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF), held in London earlier this week alongside the Mobile Entertainment Market (MEM) 2006 show.
The Mobile Games Award went to Digital Chocolate for its game, Tower Bloxx, while Warner Music  collected the Mobile Music Award for WAMO Packs. The Mobile Content Award went to Chooz Active Content for Foreplay while Bango picked up the Mobile Services Award. 3 UK & Yospace won the Mobile Innovation Award for the networks SeeMeTV service, which invites customers to send in videoclips shot on their cameraphone, which other users can then pay to donwload. The sender of the clip then gets a cut of the money. 3 also collected the Mobile Entertainment Operator Award.
Nokia won the The Mobile Entertainment Handset Award for its N70 phone, while the award for Best Mobile Entertainment Marketing Campaign went to France Telecom/Orange & Warner Music for Madonna: Confessions on a Dance Floor
Finally, the Special Recognition Award went to Jim Brailean CEO, President & Co-Founder of PacketVideo for his pinoeering work on mobile video. Brailean led the development of the MPEG-4 standards for transmission of video and audio over wireless networks, and holds 16 key U.S. patents that enable advanced multimedia communications. 
Speaking at the event, Patrick Parodi, MEF Global Chair, said:
The 2006 Meffys have been a fiercely contested event with a wealth of high-calibre entries. The winners reflect the hot trends which will be shaping and driving the mobile entertainment industry forward in the coming year including: direct to consumer content, compelling made for mobile TV and interactive user generated content. Driving mobile entertainment and increasing user value lie at the core of the Meffys.
