Mencap and Digital Giving have created Spellathon, an all-ages free spelling game for iOS and Android. Featuring the voice of Stephen Fry, the app pits players against the clock, or against other players, to correctly spell as many words as possible.
Players can request sponsorship to raise money for Mencap, and the app uses a freemium model which unlocks characters for every £3 or $5 raised.
Stephen Fry, who provides the voice of host character The Professor, says: “This is just about the best integration of imagination, education, technology inclusiveness and fun that I’ve ever encountered. Im very proud to have been involved in it, even in the smallest way.” 
The app will be exclusively available on the GetJar app store for a period of one week on Android devices.
