Metro Sees 4m Monthly Mobile Users

Freesheet newspaper Metro has seen its monthly mobile traffic double year-on-year, to reach 4.2m monthly unique users in April this year.

 Daily traffic also hit a record 175,150 unique users across its mobile apps and mobile web site – year-on-year growth of 93 per cent. The site sees total monthly visitors of 9.8m – growth of 21 per cent over the year.

 “We’re delighted to see such huge mobile traffic and engagement,” said Jamie Walters, product development director at Metro“Our mobile-first strategy has allowed us to reach more urbanites more often throughout the day. Keeping up with the latest breaking news has never been easier.”

Metro is one of the publishers really getting its hands dirty with mobile of late. Just yesterday, it launched mobile casino platform Metro Play with a £1.9m digital marketing push – a “significant amount” of which will be on mobile.
