Microsoft Acquires Wunderlist To-do App for Reported $200m

WunderlistMicrosoft has acquired Berlin-based 6Wunderkinder, the company behind popular productivity app Wunderlist.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft paid between $100-200m (£66-131m) for the company, which will continue to operate from its office in Berlin.

Wunderlist is available across mobile, desktop and wearables – there are versions for both Apple Watch and Android Wear. Last month 6Wunderkinder released a Wunderlist API, enabling it to integrate with other productivity apps such as Slack and Sunrise.

If that last name sounds familiar, its because Microsoft acquired Sunrise in February for a reported $100m. Along with its 2014 acquisition of email app Accompli, which was folded into Outlook, the tech giant currently appears to be building a roster of productivity apps to improve its own offering.
