Microsoft has launched its Microsoft Universal Ad Client SDK for Windows 10 devices.
The SDK also brings support for in-app video ads, enabling developers to incorporate video interstitials into any app available on the Windows Store.
In the same update, Microsoft has opened up ad mediation for desktop and tablets, in addition to the pre-existing smartphone support, enabling developers to integrate multiple advertising SDKs into their apps to improve fill rate. Currently, only banner ads are compatible with mediation – video is yet to be added.
This launch follows Junes announcement that Microsoft had sold its display advertising business to AOL – but that deal only covered web properties and selected Microsoft apps, and its clear that Microsoft isnt entirely out of the advertising game.
