Microsoft has unveiled a mobile game in the Halo franchise, exclusively for Windows 8 and WP8 devices. Halo: Spartan Assault is a top-down action shooter, developed by 343 Industries and Vanguard Games.
Due for release next month, the game brings a new approach to the popular first-person shooter series, with touch controls replacing the traditional controller. Spartan Assault is a single player game, but brings a competitive aspect with leaderboard and weekly challenges – which are tied into Microsoft Achievements.
The app will be priced at £6.99, and will be further monetised through in-app purchases. But the real appeal for Microsoft is surely building out Windows 8s app offering with a game in a major franchise that isnt available on Android or iOS.
