Microsoft has quietly broken the news that one of its most successful products, the Office suite, has arrived on iPhone.
Microsoft Office for iPhone is available for free from the App Store but can only be used by Office 365 Home Premium and Office 365 ProPlus subscribers. It is compatible with iPhone 4, 4S, and 5, or a fifth-generation iPod touch, which have to be running iOS 6.1 or later.
In line with the software that comes pre-loaded on its Windows handsets, the app enables users to view and edit content created in Word, Excel and PowerPoint which is saved in your SkyDrive cloud folder. The company has promised that the content and formatting will remain intact when moving from iPhone to PC or Mac as the app supports features like charts, animations, graphics and shapes.
The app comes with nice mobile-ready functions like the Slide Navigator which allows users to quickly swipe through PowerPoint presentations, with Speaker Notes to help you practise presentations. When reviewing Word documents on your phone, the Resume Reading feature takes you to the exact point in the document where you left off.
The app is not compatible with iPads… You can probably guess why!
