Microsoft Profits Drop 25 Per Cent in Q3

Microsoft-Level39.jpgMicrosoft has reported a 25 per cent drop in profit and six per cent drop in revenues during Q3 2016.

Profits in the quarter stood at $3.8bn (£2.6bn) and revenues at $20.5bn.

Microsofts More Personal Computing division, which covers Windows, mobile devices, gaming and search, brought in the biggest share of revenues ($9.5bn) but with relatively narrow profits ($1.6bn) compared to the smaller Productivity ($2.9bn profits from $6.5bn revenues) and Cloud ($2.2bn, $6.1bn) units.

The company also broke out the number of Lumia devices it sold during the quarter – just 2.3m, down 73 per cent year-on-year – as well as non-Lumia mobile devices – 15.7m, down 64 per cent.
