Microsofts Nokia Acquisition Delayed Until April

Nokia Lumia 900Microsofts deal to acquire Nokias Devices & Services business is set to close in April, seven months after it was first announced.

The date has been pushed back from initial estimates of Q1 2014, as the deal is still pending approval from certain antitrust authorities in Asia. The delay is unrelated to the €300m claim filed against the manufacturer last week by Indian government over unpaid taxes, according to Nokias statement, which “have no bearing on the timing of the closing or the material deal terms of the anticipated transaction”.

Nokias statement on the matter is also careful to point out that “Nokia and Microsoft remain committed to the transaction”, and that both companies “continue to be confident that the transaction will close”.
