Minibeats AR music platform debuts on Snapchat ahead of full launch

David Murphy

Minibeats, an augmented reality (AR) music platform enabling interactive music for social expression, has launched on Snapchat, with a set of Lenses that lets users play their own versions of artist songs, paired with vibrant AR effects. Minibeats will launch its full-fledged AR social music creation app, featuring more artists, shortly after this teaser version launches on Snapchat.

Open any Minibeats Lens, and the world around you transforms into one that matches the mood of the song. Minibeats Lenses on Snapchat also feature In-lens Purchases, a first for Snap, enabling interactive songs that use the latest AR and music tech, such as playable stem tracks, and allocating artists a 50 per cent share of their revenue from Lenses.

“I wouldn't be here without my fans, and I love being able to share my world with them,” said Canadian singer and Minibeats collaborator, Alice Glass. “Minibeats is exciting to me because it allows users to interact with my music in a personal way that hasn't been done before."
