MMA Launches EMEA Chapter

The Mobile Marketing Association
has officially announced the creation of its Europe, Middle East and
Africa (EMEA) Chapter, and unveiled its board of directors and
Executive Committee. The MME EMEA Chapter brings together more than 150
brands, agencies and mobile marketing industry players, under the
Chairmanship of Richard Saggers, head of Mobile Advertising for
Vodafone Group.
The Chapters charter is to build a sustainable
ecosystem for the mobile marketing industry in the EMEA region. It will
establish a forum for region-wide consultation on the key issues
affecting the industry, including the creation of guidelines and best
practices, and the protection of consumer privacy.
Speaking at the
launch, Saggers said he was hugely privileged to take the chair for
the region. We have an opportunity to build an industry that is at the
stage of consolidation said Saggers. It is going through the next
stage of growth, having been immature for a period of time.
MMA
President Laura Marriott said there is a transition plan in place for
national Chapters, such as the UKs, which will retain their boards for
the next 18 months, at which point a decision will be taken as to
whether they should continue, or fold in to the regional Chapter.
Other
members of the EMEA Executive Committee include Neil Edwards, CEO of
dotMobi (Chairman); Alberto Benbunan Garzon, Business Development
Director of Mobile Dreams Factory (Treasurer); Sixto Arias, Director of
Mobile Marketing at Havas Media Interactive (Secretary); and Daniel
Rosen, Group Head of AKQA Mobile (Director at Large).
