Mobile Audio Engine Ported to Bluetooth Platform

Micro-acoustic technology company Sonaptic has revealed that it has successfully ported its Sonaptic Sound Engine on to bluetooth specialist CSRs BlueCore03MM platform. With the audio engine available on the BlueCore3 chip, Sonaptic says that mobile device manufacturers can now deliver enhanced hi-fi audio through headsets, speakers or docking stations, dramatically improving what mobile listeners hear.
Sonaptic provides advanced micro-acoustic technologies that recreate a natural listening experience for users of next-generation mobile devices. Sonaptic Sound processes sound in real time to deliver three-dimensional audio for music, ringtones and games played on a mobile device. Its customers include device manufacturers NEC, Fujitsu, Mitsubishi, Motorola and Sharp, semiconductor vendors ROHM and Yamaha, and the network service provider NTT DoCoMo.
The low memory and processing requirements of the Sonaptic Sound Engine make it well suited to CSRs BlueCore3 platform. With trials of the BC03MM with the Sonaptic Sound Engine already underway, Sonaptic says that consumers should look forward to Bluetooth mobile hi-fi devices hitting the shelves by summer 2007.
Our engine expands conventional stereo sound, giving it a warmth and richness that reveals details in the music or soundtrack youd never expect to hear outside your living room, explains Sonaptic Chief Executive, David Monteith. The new port to the BlueCore3 platform fulfils our long-standing ambition to partner with CSR, a clear leader in wireless technology. Even within a limited space, this implementation of Sonaptic Sound shows once again how flexible our engine is. And weve only touched the surface of what can be done with audio to make mobile multimedia more enjoyable.
