
Mobile music discovery service Mobile Backstage has launched a free standalone Facebook app. The service, which allows music artists to interact with fans on their mobile phones, will offer the same features on Facebook as it does on the mobile app.
“With Mobile Backstage for Facebook, artists will now be able to get free entry-level access to our powerful fan communications platform,” says Paavo Bäckman, CEO and co-founder of Mobile Backstage. “The world is going mobile. Once artists experience the powerful features of our platform on Facebook, I am confident they will want to follow their fans by upgrading to our core mobile offering.”
Initially, the free Facebook offer will be provided exclusively to existing Mobile Backstage customers. It will be extended to all artists later this year, says the company.
Mobile Backstage is used by all four major label groups, and allows artists and fans to exchange and share news, photos, videos and other content on iPhones and Facebook. Support for other mobile devices, via an artist-branded platform, is coming soon.
