Mobile Commerce has partnered with Thomsonlocal.com launch the directory company's local business search app on the Nokia Ovi Store. 

The Thomsonlocal.com app allows the user to access thomsonlocal.com's database of over 2m businesses. It delivers detailed information for each business, along with thomsonlocal.com's additional information, including ratings and reviews, according to Mobile Commerce. 

Steve Page, Mobile Commerce CEO, says: "We're delighted to bring the thomsonlocal.com app to the Nokia Ovi Store. Following the success of the app with iPhone we've delivered it to the Android platform, and now Ovi Store is the natural next step. 

"Tailoring apps for phone users across all the mobile application stores is vital, and with Ovi Store attracting more than 4m downloads a day worldwide, there's a huge potential market. As smartphone sales continue to grow, and even look set to overtake PC sales within the next few years, Mobile Commerce will continue to take the lead in the opportunities this brings."

The app has some actions that are specific to the Nokia platform, such as a 'Click-to-Call' function, and the ability to 'Add Business as a Contact' and send an email. Users can also view a map. Recent searches are saved for later recall.

The app is designed for Nokia N8, C7, X6, 5800, 5230, N97 and N97 mini handsets.
