Mobile Conference and Awards

Congress House in London is the venue for Mobile Marketing 2005, a one-day conference and awards ceremony devoted to, er, mobile marketing. The conference takes place on 1 December, with an awards ceremony in the evening, which will be the first dedicated solely to mobile marketing.
The eight awards categories include Best Use Of Mobile for Customer Acquisition; Most Innovative Use of Mobile in Marketing; Best Use Of Mobile in Building Brand Awareness; and Best Example of Mobile Marketing on an International Scale. Theres also a Grand Prix Award, sponsored by Vodafone, and voted for on the night by delegates, using their mobile phones.
Conference speakers include Stewart Atkins, Head of Digital at Proximity London, Justin Billingsley, Brand Director for Coca-Cola and Diet Coke, Simon Waldman, Director of Digital Publishing at Guardian Newspapers, and Eden Zoller, Research Director at Ovum.
Conference papers include: Where its at and where its going; Making mobile sweat a look at mobile ROI and accountability; Avoiding the clangers security, privacy and legislation; Convergence how mobile dovetails with other media; and Creativity and effectiveness a showcase of the best mobile case studies.
“We have launched this conference because its clear that the marketing and media communities are not grasping or paying as much attention to mobile as they should be, it is being driven mainly by client advertisers and content providers” says John McKee, director of conference organiser, Vantage Conferences. “There are hundreds of conferences looking at mobile every year, but they are driven by the operators and handset makers, and come at it from a technical point of view, with the content laden with three-letter acronyms that marketing and media people do not understand. This is an education process that needs to be undertaken.”
McKee says he anticipates around 150 delegates on the day. Tickets are still available, priced at 400 for client marketers and creatives and planners from agencies, and 550 for everyone else.
