Mobile Gateway Expands in the Middle East

Synchronica plc, the international provider of next-generation mobile messaging services, has received an expansion order worth $107,000 (£67,000) for additional user licences for its Mobile Gateway solution, from the Middle Eastern subsidiary of a Tier-1 multinational mobile operator group, writes Eva McGarr. The operator has also renewed its 24/7 support contract with Synchronica for a further 12 months.

The operator used Mobile Gateway to launch a mass-market push email service in early 2010, charging users a monthly subscription of $0.25 for unlimited access to the service. The expansion order allows the operator to increase the number of subscribers who can use the service.

The Middle East and Africa region is set to record the highest rate of online growth worldwide, at around 13 per cent by 2014, according to Forrester Research. This is further supported by predictions from Cisco that the region will have a compound annual growth rate of 133 per cent in mobile data traffic.

“We’re pleased to receive this expansion order, as it validates the success of the operator’s push email service, and shows the mass-market appeal of Mobile Gateway” notes Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Synchronica. “Synchronica continues to focus on engaging with mobile operators in emerging markets, as they increasingly search for ways to position themselves as the preferred route to the internet. Mobile Gateway is a key component to turn their vision into reality, enabling subscribers to connect to their favourite internet communities, regardless of the type of mobile phone they own.”
