Mobile Marketing Launches the Mobile Training Academy

Dot Media, the company that publishes Mobile Marketing and Mobile Retail magazines, has launched the Mobile Training Academy (MTA), a new venture which will offer best-in-class training in all aspects of mobile marketing for brand and agency marketers at all levels of seniority and knowledge.

MTA will provide marketers with well informed, inspiring and impartial training to share knowledge and help brands develop and improve their mobile capabilities.

Our aim in launching MTA is to revolutionise the way clients learn about consumers’ mobile use, and how to adopt mobile in their businesses. The range of topics covered is fluid and dynamic, and at launch, will include:

  • Insights on consumer usage of smartphones and tablets
  • Assessment of the Apple, Android, Microsoft and other mobile platforms
  • Design, build and evaluation of mobile internet sites and apps
  • Mobile advertising selection and measurement
  • Mobile search growth and performance
  • Location-based services, assisted GPS and Foursquare campaigns
  • Facebook, Twitter and other social media
  • Google Goggles, QR codes, Augmented Reality and other image recognition technologies
  • Mobile payments, mobile commerce and Near Field Communications

Mobile Marketing will work with experienced mobile marketing practitioners and trainers to deliver courses. In addition to group sessions for delegates from multiple companies, we will also create bespoke courses and programmes for individual companies, delivered on- or off-site.

We are working closely on the launch of MTA with Rob Thurner, an experienced digital marketer and trainer, who has worked in the digital marketing industry for 15 years, and currently delivers training for the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB), the Institute of Direct Marketing (IDM), the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Institute for Promotional Marketing (IPM).

Rob is an established mobile specialist, and a regular presenter at conferences and client workshops across Europe and the USA. He was one of the team of four entrepreneurs who built and managed Incentivated from a start-up funded with seed capital to the UK’s second biggest independent mobile company, where he served as commercial director for five years.

Rob has hands-on experience of working with global brands including British Airways, Carphone Warehouse, Marks & Spencer, and multiple agencies. He is acting as an advisor and lead trainer for the MTA, and comments: “Mobile will feature prominently for years to come. The genie is out the bottle. Consumers get it.
