Mobile Marketing Live Keynotes Preview

Welcome to our weekly preview of Mobile Marketing Live, our 2-day conference, exhibition and networking event, set for 1-2 October at the Business Design Centre in London. Today, we are looking at the two principal keynotes, one on each day of the event.

On day one, 1 October, Ian Carrington, EMEA head of mobile at Google will highlight the three big trends in mobile – Social, Local and Commerce – and demonstrate how companies are winning in these spaces.

As has been well publicised, Google is following a Mobile First strategy, and Ian’s presentation will be peppered with stats outlining why mobile is now too big and too strategically important for any brand to ignore. Ian has already gone on record to say that any brand that has not sorted its mobile act out by the end of the year has probably left it too late. You can hear direct from Ian what you should be doing, why, and how Google can help, at Mobile Marketing Live.

Other speakers on day one include Neil Swanston, mobile experience manager at Centrica, who will explain how British Gas is using mobile technology to engage with its customers; Miles Lewis, VP, advertising sales at Shazam, who will discuss the second screen revolution; and Jess Butcher, CMO at Blippar, who will explain how a growing number of brands are harnessing the power of mobile image recognition in their marketing.

On day two, 2 October, Thomas Husson, principal analyst at Forrester Research, will present a keynote entitled: ‘Get Ready for the Mobile Consumer Revolution’. In his presentation, Thomas will examine how the rapid emergence of mobile as a critical touchpoint for millions of customers is forcing marketing and strategy professionals to rethink their digital strategies and make mobile their top priority.

The session will consider how smartphones and Tablets are emerging as key consumer touchpoints; what new opportunities mobile will open up in the coming years; and how marketing and strategy teams should gear up for the revolution.

Some of the stuff Thomas will address in his subject matter may look a little ‘blue sky’ in nature. What’s fascinating, and reassuring about it, however, is that it’s not one analyst’s view of the world based on where he, subjectively, thinks it might go. Instead, it’s an objective assessment of the likely future of mobile, based on senior executives and technologists within the companies that are making the mobile future a reality.

Other speakers on day two include Duncan Burrell, senior manager, Ford of Europe connected services, who will explain how the car maker is embracing apps and other mobile technologies in its vehicles; Julian Harris, senior business development manager at Qualcomm, who will talk about some of the success stories built on the company’s Vuforia vision-based Augmented Reality platform; and Mark Fraser, CEO of zappit, who will explain how NFC is taking mobile engagement with sports fans to the next level, providing not only immediate marketing opportunities, but also enabling the building and maintaining of long-term relationships.
