Our flagship conference, Mobile Marketing Live opens its doors two weeks today, on 3 October, at The Grange St. Pauls in London. In the run-up to the event, we are offering a preview of what speakers from diferent industry sectors are presenting at the event. Yesterday we looked at our speakers from the Mobile Operator community. Today, we turn the spotlight on our Publishing sector speakers.
We have two newspaper publishers speaking at the event: News UK and FT.com.
News UK
First up, at 11.40 in Stream 1 is Damon Garwood, commercial product manager at News UK, Publisher of The Times, The Sunday Times, and The Sun. Damon has substantial knowledge of the media marketplace, having implemented successful commercial strategies at leading UK brands for the past 12 years.
In his presentation, Damon will outline News UK’s mobile offering, including Sun+ explaining how full subscription is shaped for the company’s mobile proposition in the future. He will also talk about News UK’s Premier League content; multi-platform audience selling; and innovation in mobile advertising formats.
FT.com
Later in the same stream, at 2.15, Chris Smith, senior product manager at FT.com, will talk through the factors which have shaped the FTs strategic choices on mobile, the development of the FT web app and commitment to HTML5, and the publishers plans to keep pace with developments in mobile as it becomes, for many, their primary screen.
Last year the Financial Times became the first news publisher to see digital subscriptions overtake print circulation. Now, mobile channels drive more than half of FT subscriber consumption, a third of all traffic and a quarter of new digital subscriptions.
