Mobile Payments Firm Salt Technology Raises $2m

Salt Technology has received $2m to help it develop and deliver its white-label mobile wallet, along with other payment options that will include NFC, peer-to-peer, cloud-based and using QR codes.

The company is also working on a ‘single, secure, universal payment credential for consumers’, termed the Salt Personal Payment Profile, for use in place of entering debit, credit and loyalty card details. Salt says that it is in talks with leading network operators and financial institutions in the US and Europe, who will be able to brand the mobile wallet themselves. The first uses of the platform are scheduled for this year.

“We have had tremendous interest from strategic investors who are desirous of seeing a more rapid evolution of real, scalable solutions for the mobile payments market,” said Brian A. Bogosian, chairman, CEO and president of Salt Technology.
