Mobile Third Biggest Ad Channel by 2016

Celtra-Ad-Creative.jpgMobile will overtake newspapers to become the third largest advertising medium globally next year, according to ZenithOptimedia forecasts.

Accounting for 12.4 per cent of global ad spend, mobile will be behind only desktop and television advertising. By 2017, mobiles share of ad spend will grow to 15 per cent.

Overall, ZenithOptimedia forecasts that ad spend will grow four per cent in 2015, and five per cent in 2016 – due to the 2016 Summer Olympics and US Presidential Olympics – before slowing down to 4.4 per cent growth in 2017.

Mobile is the biggest contributor to this growth, accounting for 83 per cent of all new ad dollars between 2014 and 2017.
