Mobile World Congress Preview

Weve had quite a few companies telling us about their plans for what they are going to be  launching or showing at 3GSM, sorry, Mobile World Congress, so to help those attending cherry pick the best stands, heres a brief round-up of whos doing what
Software vendors Anam, Cibenix, Mobile Cohesion, Openet and SLA Mobile are joining forces to launch the Mobile Advertising Alliance, promising to revolutionise the mobile phone network as an advertising and direct marketing opportunity.
The Alliance says that each member firm provides a best-of-breed component of a mobile advertising platform. The Alliance has defined a platform that allows mobile operators to secure their position in the mobile advertising market and advertisers to reach a wide market with uniquely targeted campaigns. It also allows systems integrators to achieve rapid integration of proven software solutions with existing telecommunications infrastructure. See them in Hall1, Stand D60.
IP Unity Glenayre is using the show to unveil its new identity as Movius. Movius Interactive Corporation, to give the company its full name, will specialise in global messaging, collaboration and mobile media solutions. Along with its new corporate identity, Movius is also introducing the companys strategic direction for the next generation of mobile media and messaging solutions. Demos on the Movius stand (Hall 1, F20) will include the latest solutions in Mobile Video Portal, Mobile IM, Messaging and mobile marketing applications.
Dilithium Networks, which specialises in converged video solutions, will launch the  Dilithium Content Adapter (DCA) at the show. This, the company says, is a flexible, real-time, on-the-fly, high-performance solution that enables users to create and share video content irrespective of network (2G, 3G, wi-fi) or format (QuickTime or other media players). Content is adapted between formats near-instantaneously as it is being streamed, eliminating the need for storage of various formats and the risk of user incompatibility, while significantly expanding the horizons and possibilities of shared content. Dilithium will also showcase its VCCV (Video Call Completion to Voice) with Avatars, Video Blog/Micro Blog and Video Ringback  solutions.
Flash card company PNY Technologies will use the show to launch its new mobile gaming range. The company promises that visitors to its stand, 7C47, will be able to see the most comprehensive range of flash cards for the mobile phone market and all the latest product solutions to get the most from their mobile.
Video ringtone sharing company Vringo will be staging the inaugural Worlds Tiniest Film Festival,  a contest created by Vringo for mobile phone screens. During the show, attendees will have a chance to win one of three 32-inch flat-screen TVs by recording a 15-second Vringo video ringtone. Attendess are invited to stop by the Vringo stand (Hall 7,C35) and submit an entry,  then check out the days winning videos at the Vringo booth each afternoon, Monday-Wednesday, at 5 p.m. Beer and popcorn will be served at each viewing of the winning entries. Vringo staff will also be on hand throughout the conference to provide demonstrations and discuss the role Vringo is playing in the mobile user-generated-content industry.
Mobile Email company Synchronica will be unveiling Mobile Gateway 3.5 and Mobile Backup 1.2, delivering push-email and synchronization for both consumers and business users, compatible with virtually every handset in use today. The company says it will explain  why 2008 is the year of true mass market mobile email, and why mobile operators need to act now to ensure they meet the demands of their customers. It will also explain why consumer demand for backup and restore will continue to increase this year and how it is the contacts and other data, not the device, that are of most importance to customers.  You can find Synchronica in Hall 2, stand  2J25.
Weve  had the Wiimote. MWC will see the debut of the Zeemote. Zeemote makes intelligent wireless controllers for mobile devices. The company enhances games and applications by providing the type of analogue and custom controls people are accustomed to on other platforms. Zeemote will be outlining its philosophy and demonstrating the Zeemote JS1 controller on its stand in Hall 7 LZ 24 in the Innovations Zone.
Tanla Mobile will be launching the Tanla Mobile Marketing and Advertising Guide at the show. With contributions from mobile marketing expert Helen Keegan and drawing on the expertise of senior figures at O2, Vodafone, Admob and Emerging Media Platforms, Tanla says the Guide identifies key areas that must be addressed for the industry to thrive in 100+ pages of essential reading for all marketing and mobile executives.
Mobile Complete, which provides testing, monitoring, and support solutions, will showcase its DeviceAnywhere Pro application, which offers fully-automated mobile testing and scripting.   
Offered in a Software-as-a-Service model, DeviceAnywhere Pro leverages DeviceAnywheres publicly-shared infrastructure of over 1,000 mobile devices across the US and Europe. It also employs DeviceAnywheres proven architecture which offers developers access to real, physical handsets on live global networks, using just the Internet. And finally, a year after it launched its Mobiclip video codec, Actimagine  will use MWC to  present the world preview of mobiclip.com, a web portal that enables users to manage their videos and watch them instantly in high definition format on the mobile phone. With just a few clicks, the company says, users have access to their videos anytime, anywhere, and on any mobile phone model independently of wireless telecom network coverage.
