Mobilegeddon 2016? Googles Next Mobile Search Update Coming in May

MobilegeddonGoogle has announced another update to its mobile search results, building on the so-called Mobilegeddon update last April.

The first update introduced mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal – meaning sites which dont meet Googles criteria place lower in the search results on mobile devices. This new update, rolling out in May, will increase the effect of this signal on Googles rankings.

“If youve already made your site mobile-friendly, you will not be impacted by this update,” said Google software engineer Klemen Kloboves in a blog post announcing the move. “And remember, the intent of the search query is still a very strong signal — so even if a page with high quality content is not mobile-friendly, it could still rank well if it has great, relevant content.”
