Mobiles Republic Takes News App Cross-platform

App developer Mobiles Republic has announced that its popular news app News Republic is now available on most smartphone operating systems.

The app, which is already available for iPhone and Android devices, will now also be available for BlackBerry, Symbian, Bada, WP7 and webOS handsets, as well Android Honeycomb tablets. The company also says an iPad version is due “in a matter of weeks”.

The app is based around Mobiles Republics proprietary TagNav system, which allows users to search and organise news stories and related news articles. The app is designed to enable users to closely follow their favourite subjects. News stories can be shared via email, Twitter or Facebook.

Users can create their own personalised news channel which is generated from over 50 agencies around the world including AFP, AP, Reuters and PR Newswire.

The app has licence agreements with the news providers so users can view full content from within the News Republics interface. The app is available free from the relevant app store.
