More than Half of Traffic to Metro.co.uk is Mobile

The Metro saw record mobile traffic last month, with 58 per cent of visitors now coming from mobile devices, according the latest ABC figures.
Metro.co.uk’s monthly mobile traffic has grown 104 per cent since August last year, from 3.02m to 6.18m unique users, which the company attributes to the responsive redesign of its site in December 2012. Although its traffic dropped down to 2.5m in January, this has recovered to see record numbers of mobile visitors in August. 
“Metro.co.uk is showing strong month on month growth, delivering a record breaking August,” said Linda Grant, MD at Metro. “Building on this, our internal figures suggest we’re on track to challenge this record next month. It’s a real testament to the hard work of the teams here.”
