O2 has announced the launch of Your Show, which brings audio capability to LookAtMe!, O2s user-generated video download service. O2 customers can now submit original music content, whether it be an audio track or a video of their band, for viewing by other users.
Since the launch of LookAtMe! in June 2006, O2 customers have been downloading thousands of clips a day, with a peak of 45,000 clips downloaded in a single day. Customers who upload content to LookAtMe! receive a fee each time the clip is viewed. O2 says that some have earned almost 500 for their content. Now, with Your Show, customers can upload original music content, including ringtones, for other customers to download.
To submit content, O2 subscribers send it as a media message at the standard rate to the shortcode 32323. All clips submitted undergo a rigorous human moderation process, which ensures that the clips hosted on the site are of up to the mark, both in terms of audio quality, as well as content. Contributors can view how many clips have been downloaded from their phone.
Your Show clips cost the same as LookAtMe clips 35p to download, with 3p going back to the creator of the track. On every Monday in March, customers can download free tracks as part of the O2 Long Weekend promotion.
Your Show categories include Ringtone Rhapsody, Hairbrush Hits and 100% RealTalent, which will allow undiscovered bands to upload their latest tracks. Your Show, like LookAtMe! is provided to O2 by YoSpace.
Were very pleased with the success of LookAtMe! which is, if you like, part video store, part mobile reality TV says Russ Shaw, Director of Capability and Innovation at O2 UK. Your Show is the logical next step for the home of music: its a chance for everyone to get creative and begin selling videos and tracks and make money out of it.
