Khan takes up CRO role at Tumblr
Tumblr has hired Cavel Khan as its Chief Revenue Officer. In this new role, Khan will be responsible for overseeing global sales and the sales strategy company-wide. Reporting into Tumblr CEO, Jeff D’Onofrio, Khan will be based in New York, where he’ll build and lead a fully verticalized global sales organization, including direct and programmatic sales, sales operations, sales research, sales development, and supporting functions to drive Tumblr’s advertising sales efforts.

Khan was previously SVP of Client Partnerships, North America at VICE, where he oversaw sales and account management teams for the region. Before that he was at Twitter, where he grew revenue for the brand across the CPG vertical.

Before joining Twitter, Khan spent eight years at Microsoft, in multiple roles, starting out as part of the Client Services Organization, building out the East Coast search teams supporting Bing. He then focused on building advertising partnerships across Microsoft’s display, mobile, and gaming platforms. He is a 2019 recipient of the America on Tech Innovator and Disruptor Award for Sales. He is also a 2020 Advertising Club of New York ICON Award recipient, and earned his MBA in Marketing from Zicklin School of Business in New York.

Perry to head up marketing at Contentful
Headless content management firm, Contentful, has appointed Bridget Perry as its new CMO. She most recently led Adobe marketing across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The company has also announced an $80m (£63m) Series E funding round, led by Sapphire Ventures, with participation from General Catalyst, Salesforce Ventures and five other new and existing backers. This round brings Contentful’s total funding to $158m to date.

Perry said: “As a marketing leader responsible for ensuring brand consistency, I know first-hand how challenging it is for builders to deliver a consistent digital customer experience while using outdated technology. Established CMSes and digital experience platforms (DXPs) aren’t agile enough to manage and deliver dynamic, omnichannel content. Contentful’s agile content platform is on a fast path to disrupting the market.”

Contentful’s content platform enables developers, designers and content creators to create and deliver digital experiences for any channel or device. 28 per cent of the Fortune 500 and 2,200 paying customers worldwide use its platform to manage and deliver content across websites, mobile apps, wearables and digital displays. Customers include Spotify, Urban Outfitters, The British Museum, Xoom and Lenovo.

Two senior hires for Tyto Care
Tyto Care, a telehealth platform and modular device for AI-powered, on-demand, remote medical exams, has appointed Colleen Sellers as VP Marketing and Anat Eitan as Chief Financial Officer. Sellers will lead Tyto Care’s B2B and B2C brand strategy efforts from New York, while Eitan will oversee the expansion of the company’s global business operations from Tyto Care’s office in Israel.

Sellers comes to Tyto Care from Johnson & Johnson, where she served as Senior Director of Global Marketing. During her tenure, she oversaw global marketing for Tylenol and Motrin, Neutrogena, Zyrtec, Benadryl and Visine. Her extensive experience in brand planning and research, and her commercial insight, will propel Tyto Care’s marketing efforts forward as it continues to expand into new consumer markets, while growing and maintaining retail and health system partner relationships.

She said: “I am thrilled to join the Tyto Care team as we focus on expanding the reach of Tyto’s industry-leading telehealth solution. Tyto Care has such an important and immediate impact on people’s lives, and I look forward to helping bring the convenience and accessibility Tyto offers to more people around the world, especially during this critical time.

Eitan has amassed more than 15 years of experience across all aspects of financial management for global companies. Prior to joining Tyto Care, she served as CFO of Stratoscale, a company providing software-defined cloud infrastructure solutions, and as the CFO of Waze for over four years, including its acquisition by Google.

“Tyto Care’s impact on the telehealth industry has been substantial, and yet it’s just the beginning,” she said. “I am thrilled to join the company at such a crucial junction in its journey, and look forward to helping Tyto achieve its goal of putting health in the hands of consumers around the world.”

Tyto Care witnessed threefold growth in 2019 and is now working with hundreds of hospitals and over 100 health organizations in North America, Europe, Asia and Israel.The company’s continued growth and recent funding has enabled it to expand commercialization and widen its strategic focus on key market verticals and product capabilities.

Rose to MD after eight years at Fountain
Digital marketing agency, Fountain Partnership, has promoted its longest-serving employee, Alice Rose, to the role of Managing Director. Rose assumes this role from Rebecca Lewis Smith, who has served as MD since the company was founded in 2009.

For the past 12 months, Rose has been working side-by-side with the four Co-founders to allow for a smooth transition of the business and continuity of leadership. She has been a member of the Fountain team since 2012, when she started as a Junior SEO Executive. Alongside one of the co-founders Laura Jennings, she was part of the very first PPC team, managing large Google accounts and scooping the agencys very first Google Award. Her most recent role was Head of Digital.

She said: “I am completely overwhelmed and feel a huge sense of pride in having the opportunity to be at the forefront of a wonderful team of people. I am really looking forward to having a more centralised role within the business, working closely with Fountain’s Co-founder’s to solidify the vision and strategy, as well as cementing ourselves as the global, digital marketing agency.”

Alongside Rose, Fountain has also announced three other promotions – Gareth Howells to Head of Finance; Dave Starky to Head of Operations; and Rachel Murray to Head of Partnerships.

Brave Bison appoints Green as CEO and Executive Chairman
Social video firm Brave Bison has appointed Oliver Green as CEO and Executive Chairman, following Kate Burns from the role of CEO and an Executive Director of the company on 11 June.

Green has been a Non-Executive Director and Non-Executive Chairman at Brave Bison since December 2019. He is the Managing of digital marketing agency Tangent Marketing Services and has several years’ experience working in digital marketing and technology across a range of sectors, including FMCG, Technology, B2B and Automotive. Tangent group companies and Green together hold 27.33 per cent of the issued share capital of Brave Bison.

He said: “On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Kate for her hard work, personal commitment and dedication to Brave Bison. Over the past year, the company has developed a market-leading digital content studio and has successfully grown its audiences on next generation platforms including Snapchat and TikTok. Dalal joins IAB Tech Lab Board
IAB Tech Lab has appointed Karan Dalal, SVP Business Operations at Media.net, to its Board of Directors. As a board member, he will play a key role in guiding Tech Lab’s work in support of contextual advertising and cookie-less identity standards, transparency and brand safety, among other initiatives.

IAB Tech Lab is a non-profit consortium that works with the industry to develop guidelines, write specs, develop foundational technology, and provide services in an effort to bring alignment and standardization to help the industry grow. It’s governed by an independent Board of Directors, which oversees its agenda.

“It’s an honor to join IAB Tech Lab’s Board of Directors,” said Dalal. “I’ve spent a decade at Media.net, collaborating with publishers, platforms and advertisers to navigate an ever-changing ecosystem. Cabra to co-chair BIMA Client Services Council
Digital and tech community BIMA has announced the appointment of Alessandra Cabra, Client Services Director at Rufus Leonard, as the new Co-chair of the BIMA Client Services Council, alongside Cynan Clucas, Head of Services and Innovation at Chaucer.

“Our BIMA councils are a hugely important part of our work,” said BIMA Co-president, Natalie Gross. “In a diverse industry, our councils ensure there’s a community for everyone, developing webinars, roundtables, guides and partnerships that help businesses access the knowledge and opportunities they need to succeed. As we dust ourselves down after an extremely challenging lockdown, it will be our councils that will be leading the charge during recovery and our CS Council will continue to be at the forefront of that.”

Since joining Rufus Leonard in 2015, following roles at Razorfish, Collective London and Publicis, Cabra has led a portfolio of clients, including London Business School, Lloyd’s Register, The Gym Group, British Red Cross and Stagecoach. Last July, she was promoted to the agency’s strategic board.

Johnson joins Televerde board
Sales and marketing technology firm Televerde has announced that Eric Johnson, a former senior leader at Adobe-Marketo, Blackberry, Qlik and SAP, has been appointed to Televerde’s Board.

Johnson retired from his position as Chief Sales Officer at Marketo, where he led Marketo’s global sales operations. Before joining Marketo, he held several sales leadership positions, including President of the Americas at Qlik Technologies; EVP of Global Enterprise Sales at BlackBerry; SVP/General Manager of Global Database & Technology at SAP; and SVP/General Manager of North America at Sybase.

He said: “I have known Televerde from the client side for more than 15 years and have acquired a love and appreciation for the business. The company’s 25-year history of providing career opportunity and training to incarcerated women is a world-class example of business as a force for good. I have tremendous respect for the Televerde leadership team and the other board members and I look forward to working with them.”
