Mplayit (formerly Mpowerplayer), which provides online mobile game discovery and merchandising solutions, has announced a partnership with Player X to power online games distribution on O2s UK website.
Player X launched its 100% Mobile service on O2 in September 2008, focusing on try-before-you-buy and flexible customer billing. Under the terms of the new agreement, Mplayit will provide customers visiting the O2 100% mobile portal via the web with the opportunity to try out mobile games for free in a web interface that mimics the look and feel of a mobile phone.
The deal marks Mplayits first deployment with a major European operator and follows successful partnerships with US carriers Sprint and AT&T, and Israels Cellcom. Mplayits services are also fully integrated with social networks like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and Bebo, allowing users to add their favourite games to their profile pages to share with their friends. Users can also recommend games to others, and receive updates on what games their friends are enjoying.
