MPme, a radio curation app on iOS developed by former Google and Shazam employees in Londons tech city, has been updated to allow even more personlisation for its users.
The free app helps users discover new music from around the globe by using whats playing data from more than 50,000 radio stations and matching it with your music taste. The app, released in 2012, now has a Whats Hot section to help people explore the stations on offer, which includes Our Picks, must hear radio recently added to MPme.
The new For You tab picks tracks based on your listening habits, the team has improved the favourites list in the Now Playing section and added This Week, which lists top growing artists on the platform. When you sign-up, MPme can now curate cover art from the user’s library and Facebook likes.
The team is also now offering fans the opportunity to receive a newsletter with even more information about new radio stations, artists and tracks, along with news on app updates. Android and Facebook apps have been promised for later in the year. The app will have a premium version at a later date, as well as intelligent related ad content.
MPme was created last year by Rahul Powar, formerly of Shazam, and is currently run by Christian Miccio, former Google product manager and Shazam early joiner, at Silicon Roundabout. They used to work at Shazam, so they know technology and music!
MPme was highly commended in our Barca Starta competition at MWC this year.
