MTS Launches Prepay Roaming in India

Indian operator MTS has launched an international roaming service for its customers. Supplied by telecoms company MACH, the solution is the first prepaid roaming service for the Indian market.

MTS, which has over 11m subscribers, says its International Roaming service allows its prepaid subscribers to roam across 433 GSM networks in 231 countries. 

The company has also launched a dual mode SIM card which works both on GSM handsets while abroad and on OMH CDMA handsets while in India.

The company has tied up with 322 roaming partners in 206 countries for GPRS services, 145 roaming partners in 114 countries for HSDPA services.

Leonid Musatov, chief marketing and sales officer at MTS India says: “With a view to enhance connectivity and convenience, we have now introduced international roaming services for our customers. This would enable our customers to stay connected with their loved ones while travelling abroad without changing their phone numbers and also enjoy seamless data connectivity on the go, internationally.”
