InMobi SmartPay and Opera Software has announced a partnership that will bring InMobis SmartPay mobile payment platform to Opera users.
InMobi SmartPay will enable Opera users to pay for digital goods when they make purchases with some of the leading publishers that partner with InMobi.
“This partnership is key in helping us accelerate our ambitious expansion plans, by bringing our solution to mobile web publishers who can now monetise Operas mobile users easily,” says Piyush Shah, VP at InMobi SmartPay. “Working with global partners like Opera is a great way for us to expand our offering. Operas global focus made them the ideal partner for SmartPay.”
“For Opera Software, this is a great example of our commitment to providing our users with the best possible user experience on any device. SmartPays single point of integration, which provides access to a wide array of global payment solutions, fits perfectly with our goals,” says Mahi de Silva, EVP of consumer mobile at Opera Software. “Mobile payments will shape commerce for the next several years, and Opera and InMobi are at the forefront of this revolution, catering to millions of users worldwide.”
Browser Update
The partnership announcement comes as Opera Software announce Opera Mini Next – a preview version of the companys mobile browser. The version adds social media functions to the popular feature phone browser.
“When people think of using social networks on the go, they often imagine a smartphone with the latest apps installed. At Opera, we know thats not the way a majority of mobile phone owners access their social networks,” says Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “Thats why weve made ordinary phones smarter, by making it easier to use the most popular social networks right in the first screen of Opera Mini for feature phones. Just because youre on a more basic phone, doesnt mean you cant be a active social networker.”
The company has also launched Opera Mobile 12 for Android and Symbian. This full version offers WebGL on Android phones, as well as Ragnarök, Operas HTML5 parser support. This improves web app functionality, says the company.
