Latvian newsagent chain Narvesen Baltija has trialled an NFC loyalty program, in conjunction with retail marketing company TCC, at 10 of its outlets in the capital Riga.
1,000 consumers registered to participate in the trial, and were provided with an NFC-enabled sticker to attach to the back of their mobile phone or place inside their wallet. They were then presented with electronic loyalty reward ‘stickers’ for each purchase, which could be exchanged for a number of gifts.
The benefits, according to Narvesen, included faster payments and reduced queues, as well as cost and environmental savings. TCC is working with Narvesen to integrate the systems into all 240 of the chains stores.
