NatWest has worked with Aardman Animations, makers of Wallace and Gromit, to produce a free mobile game that encourages children to save money.
Pigby and Friends, introduced last year as mascots for NatWest’s First Saver account, can be found at the fairground and must complete a range of five-minute tasks where they can choose to spend or save their winnings. The player, either a boy pig wearing blue clothes or a girl pig wearing pink, as ever, can set their own saving targets for new or upgraded stalls and when they reach their goals they unlock new items and levels.
The development of the game was prompted by a survey that found that 20 per cent of children aged five to 10 cant stop themselves from spending pocket money. 58 per cent said they are more likely to spend and save cash given to them at Christmas.
NatWest believes this is the first app of its kind. Perhaps they could do one for adults too?
