29 per cent of mobile web users intend to buy the rumoured iPad 3, according to a study from mobile ad network InMobi. Perhaps even more interestingly, 54 of those planning to invest in the device dont already own a Tablet.
Ahead of Apples 7 March event in the US – which is widely believed to be an announcement for the Tablet device, the iPad 3 and the Mobile Market study found that 50 per cent of the nearly 700 consumers surveyed would be willing to pay over $500 (£315).
“In terms of the iPad 3s impact on the mobile industry as a whole, we definitely see consumer adoption of tablets contributing to increased mobile media consumption, as our recent Mobile Media Consumption Study shows that North American mobile consumers are already spending more time on mobile devices, versus TVs or PCs,” says Anne Frisbie, InMobis vice president and managing director in North America.
It seems that the draw is the appeal of the iPad brand itself, rather than of Tablets in general – 44 per cent of respondents said they wouldnt consider a different Tablet brand, and 65 per cent of those who intend to buy an iPad saying theyd consider the older models at a reduced price instead.
