Netsize Finds Support for Larger Mobile Payments

Mobile commerce and communications enabler Netsize has released a report entitled Unlocking the Value of Mobile Commerce, which examines the role of mobile in online and physical retail and commerce.

The free report includes exclusive research on the amounts that people are prepared to pay through their mobile phone, and finds a willingness among consumers to pay for more expensive than the usual transport and parking tickets.

Netsize surveyed more than 1,000 mobile professionals and practitioners and concludes that mobile payment is poised to super-charge shopping as users show a significant interest in buying digital and physical goods and services with their mobile phone.

While almost all respondents (94 per cent) said they would be “very likely” or “somewhat likely” to purchase goods totalling up to €25 (£21) using their mobile phones, 83 per cent indicated that they would be willing to pay for items such as concert tickets (valued at amounts up to €50) via their mobile.

Additionally, 51 per cent said they would be likely to buy physical goods for amounts up to €100 with their mobile. Netsize says this figure confirms the huge growth potential for mobile commerce and increased interest in new ways to shop and buy.
The report also found that payment mechanisms are critical to the quality of the mobile shopping experience, with 60 per cent of respondents saying that a choice of methods of payment is important to them.
