Netsize Powers Hands-On Video Service

Mobile commerce and communications enabler Netsize has revealed that it is powering the video upload function of Hands-On Mobiles user-generated video sharing service, Yatta Video.
The service enables users to upload mobile videos directly from their mobile phone using Premium MMS. Visitors to the Yatta Video service can download the clip for a small fee of between 0.50 (0.40) and 100, with a percentage of the download revenue for a given clip being paid back to the original contributor.
The Yatta Video service is currently available in France, where it is offered on the SFR mobile network. Hands-On plans to roll out the service across additional European countries in the coming months.
Juniper Research predicts the market for mobile User-generated Content (UGC) will skyrocket, rising from $572 million (291 million) in 2007 to more than $5.7 billion in 2012. Social networking will account for half of these revenues, followed by personal content delivery, and dating.
As a personal and interactive tool, the mobile phone allows us to capture and share content on the go, says Netsize COO, Frederic Halley. The explosive growth of social networks, driven by the abundance of user-generated content, will certainly ignite MMS usage, as it offers consumers an easy and convenient way to upload and share content directly from their from mobile phones. In line with this trend, we see a growing interest in MMS from media companies, web portals and social networking communities in harnessing MMS for content creation and exchange.
Netsize provides publishers, brands, and content companies with an end-to-end solution that includes international MMS connections, with mobile-originated MMS (MMS MO) shortcodes to streamline the uploading of UGC and clips; and a mobile terminated MMS (MMS MT) shortcode to enable the delivery and download of multimedia content for UGC services, or rich-media for mobile marketing campaigns.
