Tile is a crowdfunded startup that has created a low-energy Bluetooth device used to help locate your belongings by connecting to nearby iPhones running the Tile app.

Users buy a $25 Tile ($18.95 for a limited time) which is attached to items like laptops, bikes and even your wallet. If the item moves beyond the 100-feet range of Bluetooth, the Tile app quietly goes on the search for your missing possessions via the community of Tile app users. Once found, the app notifies you of its location. Users can share the location of their belongings with friends and will eventually be able to see their stuff on the app’s map.

The startup took just eight hours to reach its initial funding goal of $20,000 in the US, passing $67,000 in a week and now boasting more than $89,000 in crowdfunding. The device can now be pre-ordered in the UK, other areas of Europe, along with Australia and New Zealand. It is iOS-only at this stage.
