EE is launching the UK’s first CAT4 4G enabled device, the Huawei E5776 WiFi, ready for its superfast network, which goes live in June.
Until now, CAT3 handsets like the Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE were the only handsets on offer and had peak download speeds of around 100Mbps. If you just cant wait that long, CAT4 devices are capable of reaching 150Mbps. EE announced last week that it was doubling the amount of 1800MHz spectrum bandwidth that it was dedicating to 4G in order to increase the speed and capacity of its network.
The Huawei E5776 WiFi will be available free on EE’s 4G plans, which start at at £12.99 per month with 1Gb data. The device will also be available on a variety of business plans.
