Nike Opens Up Big Fitness Data and Start-up Programme

Nike has opened up its Fuelband and Running APIs to give its users and developers the opportunity to do more with the company’s fitness data.

Not only will users be able to understand more about their exercise regime and combine the metrics, developers can now start using the portal to create new apps and services.

The Nike+ Accelerator programme for start-ups has also launched in a bid to find companies that can ‘use Nike+ technology to create products and services that will inspire athletes across a broad range of activity and health goals’.

The competition has been created in association with TechStars. Nike’s VP of Digital Sport, Stefan Olander, will be mentoring the participants, as well as the founder and CEO of TechStars, David Cohen, and the co-founder of Foursquare, Naveen Selvadurai.
